Handcrafting fly rods has been one of my passions for the past 23 years.
Having started my custom fly rod career building bamboo rods, also know as split cane, I started building on graphite and fiber glass blanks a few years later.
With bamboo still being my “True Love” it is always a pleasure getting a picture sent of a Tarpon, Tiger or Trout landed on one of “your” graphite rods. This is even more special if the angler had a choice in creating his or her rod by deciding which reel seat to use or what colour of thread the binding should be.
A 7’6″ Bamboo rod recently completed. This is a classic Garison taper. Smooth casting , two piece.
The inscription – Spekboom , still one of my favourite trout streams in the old Transvaal.

if you wish to have a one-in-a-trillion rod.
